The groundwork is being laid for Prince William County’s 17th middle school.
Prince William County representatives participated in a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday morning.
“Each new school we open is a milestone and demonstrates how committed Prince William County Public Schools is to Providing A World-Class Education in the best learning and teaching environment possible,” School Board Chairman Babur Lateef said at the ceremony.
Slated to open in fall 2021, the school will be located at 17851 Woods View Drive in Dumfries.
Mosley Architects is designing the facility, according to a release from Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS).
In addition to an outdoor teaching space, it will feature a media center and a Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) lab.
“Potomac Shores” Middle School is also expected to have more than 60 classrooms for general education subjects, such as career and technical education.
The school’s name will be chosen during the next few months.
