Law enforcement are giving to those in foster care.
The Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD) collected nearly $15,700 in gift cards that will benefit foster care clients, according to a release from Prince William County.
This effort was part of the Prince William Department of Social Services’ (DSS) 2020 Christmas Project.
“Some of the individuals have experienced abuse or neglect and are unable to reside in their own homes,” PWCPD Spokesman Jonathan Perok said in a release. “We thought this was most certainly a worthy case to support during any holiday season, but especially this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Typically, the police department participates in two programs – Santa Cops and Santa Ride.
Through Santa Cops, children who are less fortunate go Christmas shopping with law enforcement.
During Santa ride, Santa – accompanied by the motorcycle unit – stops by local elementary schools.
These initiatives were canceled, due to COVID-19.
