Citizens got the scoop at a community event earlier this week.
The Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD) hosted Cone with a Cop in Dale City on Tuesday.
Children received a free treat at the McDonalds located at 4245 Dale Boulevard.
County residents also had an opportunity to learn more about the agency and discuss any concerns they may have with law enforcement.
“We’re providing safety tips, we’re partnering with the community in order to increase awareness and let people know what’s going on,” Sergeant Sarah Rolle.
The event, according to Supervisor John Jenkins, allowed officials to educate area youth, “which is necessary to maintain a crime-free neighborhood.”
Virginia Delegate Elizabeth Guzman also attended the gathering.
“I’m happy to see the kids, how they learn more about what the police [do], and they have some great tips over here,” Guzman said. “So, I’m very excited to be here and I look forward to seeing the next event happening in Woodbridge.”
