The daring actions of local residents are supporting a non-profit.
More than $3,000 was raised through the Prince William County Police Department’s (PWCPD) annual Polar Plunge, according to a release from the PWCPD.
Held virtually this year, the event ran from February 1 through Saturday.
Individuals and teams were able to participate in a variety of ways, such as jumping into cold water or taking a dip in a hot tub.
Polar Plunge proceeds are going to Special Olympics Virginia, which offers training and competitions for athletes who have intellectual disabilities.
Teams across Virginia brought in more than $835,000 for the organization.
