A Dale City road is remaining closed after a sinkhole appeared earlier this month.
Crew members from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) are replacing a stormwater pipe between Saddler Lane and Roundtree Drive on Princedale Drive.
The pipe installation is expected to be completed in late August, according to a release from VDOT.
Due to significant rainfall, the previous 84-inch pipe fell into Neabsco Creek on the Fourth of July. This led the road to sink.
The creek received some relief on July 6 and the utility pipes were steadied the following day.
Officials suggested the installation of a couple of 130-foot long concrete pipes and new headwalls after a hydraulic assessment was conducted.
