Pile driving will begin today on Route 1 in Woodbridge. The pile driving will be done along Route 1 just north of Marys Way for the next two weeks, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT),
The pile driving is being done ahead of construction of a new bridge over Marumsco Creek, stated VDOT. The work is all part of the Route 1 widening project, where a third lane will be added each way between Marys Way and Annapolis Way, with a scheduled completion date of 2019.
The work will be happening between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day, depending on the weather.
“Crews will be monitoring noise levels associated with the pile driving in order to minimize disruption to nearby businesses and residences,” stated VDOT.
