UPDATE: The Furloughed Pet Pantry Event is still occurring from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, even though the government has temporarily re-opened.
Furry friends of government employees don’t have to go without.
Starting on Saturday, furloughed workers may pick up pet food from the Prince William Humane Society is Dumfries.
Food, and some collars and leashes are being offered through the non-profit’s Furloughed Pet Pantry Event, which will continue running until the government shutdown ends.
To participate, federal government workers must bring an I.D. to the humane society, which is at 17983 Dumfries Shopping Place.
Donations are being accepted for the event.
Pet Nutrition Center in Lake Ridge is providing a 10 percent discount to federal government workers and those purchasing food for the pet pantry.
