More information about the winners and their work, from a release:
John Hartt (1st Place) Artwork: “George and Emily”
John Hartt is an artist who lives and works in Manassas. He works in oils and leans toward a bright, colorful palette with his subject matter ranging from whimsical to “just plain weird”. His goal is simple he says, “I want my work to make people smile.” His work can be seen at Arches Gallery at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, The Man Cave in Old Town Manassas and online at jortt.com.
About the piece: “George and Emily” – George loved Emily and Emily loved George, in life and death. Fellow Arches Gallery artist, Gene Moty painted the original George and Emily in his uniquely beautiful minimalist style. This is my take on it.
Karen Chin (2nd Place) Artwork: “Winter Forest”
Karen Chin is a painter and mixed media artist who works in oils and water media with representational and diverse subject matter.
“Winter Forest” is a 36″ square acrylic that celebrates the forest in cool colors with just a hint of the warm sun and earth against its sparse white branches.
Kristen Cauble-Morse (3rd Place) Artwork: “Giverny – Color Pink”
Kristen Cauble-Morse, International Artist, is influenced by her passion for architectural elements, landscapes, and natural environments. Her artistic nature was developed at an early age. She has explored her creativity through numerous mediums. Her style, with layers of bold and vibrant color, is a reflection of her personality. Her most recent works carry you thru her European journey. Kristen has exhibited in Paris, England, and Italy along with many locations up and down the East Coast. Her work is displayed in many homes across the world.
About the piece: “Giverny – Color Pink” was inspired by her most recent trip to Paris, and her visit to the home of Monet in the town of Giverny, France. It was early fall, flowers were still in bloom with vibrant colors throughout his gardens.
Kristen’s work can be seen at Arches Gallery, at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia and on her website, www.KristenCaubleMorse.com
