Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center recently earned an A grade for patient safety.
According to a release, The Leapfrog Group does annual assessments of health facilities on the basis of safety, assigning letter grades A through D and F on their performance.
“Our mission at Sentara Healthcare is to improve the health of our patients and communities every day. The safety of our patients, members and staff is our number one priority. We are pleased to have several of our facilities recognized for the safe, quality care we provide,” stated Sentara Chief Clinical Officer and Vice President Dr. Murali Naidu in a release.
When calculating the grade, Leapfrog uses 27 criterion and assesses 2,600 hospitals in the United States each year.
“It takes consistent, unwavering dedication to patients to achieve the highest standards of patient safety. An ‘A’ Safety Grade recognizes hospitals for this accomplishment,” stated Leapfrog Group CEO Leah Binder in a release.
