It was fun while it lasted.
Okra’s Cajun Creole’s Gainesville location at 7950 Virginia Oaks Drive, located on the property of the Virginia Oaks Golf Course, will have to close its doors.
The restaurant location only opened back in May.
According to Okra’s Bistro’s Facebook page, the restaurant received a “cease & desist order”, informing them that they would only be allowed to operate until December 18.
“The order is based upon the fact that our building is zoned as a ‘support building for a golf course’. As the golf course has closed, there is no active zoning for the building. Therefore we must go,” stated the Facebook post.
The post also shares that owner Charles Gilliam is looking at potentially one or two new locations for the bistro. The location in the City of Manassas will remain open.
In addition to closing deals and special events, Okra’s Bistro is asking individuals to bring in holiday decorations to decorate the location for its final weeks.

We may be leaving, but we want to make the place festive, too! Since we have to leave by mid-December, we can’t really justify spending a lot of dough on decorations. So, we’re looking for a little help! Here’s our thought – most people have ornaments and decorations that they no longer put out, but just haven’t been able to part with. Well, now’s your chance! Bring in any Christmas decor any time this week to help us trim the tree and decorate the restaurant – and we’ll give you an order of Golden Fried Okra in return!
