The Town of Occoquan recognized the work and achievements of local VFW Post 7916.
According to a release, the post was recently named as an “All American” Post for 2016 and 2017.
“VFW Post 7916 far exceeded the standards for Americanism and leading patriotic events, Community Service and Programs, Youth Activities and Programs, Safety Programs, Hospital service programs, Post Administration, Finance, By-Laws, and regulations, and membership Programs; and made positive contribution that VFW Post 7916 to not only the Occoquan Community, but also to the veterans and their families within the region,” stated a release.
The Occoquan Town Council adopted a resolution to congratulate the organization, which was presented to the group by Mayor Elizabeth Quist.

RESOLUTION
The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States has declared Occoquan’s VFW Post 7916, an “All American” Post for recognizing its mission of, “Honoring Our Fallen Through Helping Our Living,”
WHEREAS, VFW Post 7916 rose to the highest levels for a VFW Post in the State of Virginia and achieved “All State;” and
WHEREAS, VFW Post 7916 far exceeded the standards in championing veterans’ issues and providing assistance for our veterans be they active duty, retired, or honorably discharged; and
WHEREAS, VFW Post 7916 far exceeded the standards for Americanism and leading patriotic events, Community Service and Programs, Youth Activities and Programs, Safety Programs, Hospital service programs, Post Administration, Finance, By-Laws, and regulations, and membership Programs; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Occoquan recognizes the positive contribution that VFW Post 7916 makes to not only the Occoquan Community, but also to the veterans and their families within the region; and
WHEREAS, VFW Post 7916 is ranked among the top .04 percent of the 6,500 posts worldwide as one of 279, to attain “All American” Post; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Occoquan Town Council hereby congratulates VFW Post 7916’s leadership and membership for earning the “All American Post” designation, and expresses its sincere gratitude for the Post’s outstanding service to the Occoquan community and Prince William County.
