Santa is coming to Occoquan. And so are holiday festivities.
Between November 20 and December 13, the Occoquan Merchants and the town will hold Occoquan HolidayFest.
A virtual holiday Tree Lighting that’s scheduled for 8 p.m. on November 20 will start the three-week event, according to a release from the Town of Occoquan.
Community members may take part in various programs, including a gingerbread contest, holiday market and trivia night.
They have a chance to win $100 in gift cards through a Shopping Passport Contest, which runs throughout the Occoquan HolidayFest.
Special offers and gifts will be available for those shopping online and in person at Occoquan businesses during Thanksgiving weekend.
The Holiday Market, which is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on December 5, provides another opportunity to check out handmade items. The event will be set up in River Mill Park, 458 Mill Street.
County residents and visitors can test their knowledge in It’s a Wonderful Trivia Night on December 11. Running from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the program is occurring at River Mill Park. Snacks and adult beverages are going to be available for purchase.
Those interested in participating may buy trivia night tickets on eventbrite.
Individuals and families also have a chance to get creative by entering a Gingerbread House Contest.
Sign up is available online and voting will be held virtually.
Winners, who earn a $25 gift card to an Occoquan business, are being announced at 4 p.m. on December 12 during the Fireside Family Night.
Occoquan HolidayFest ends with the Fireside Family Night, where kids can wave to Santa at 3 p.m. Smores, fire pits and a reading of A Christmas Carol will also be featured.
Anyone who would like to attend must register.
