This weekend could be a cold and wet one for Northern Virginia residents.
A wintry mix is likely on Saturday afternoon and night, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The NWS is calling for less than a half an inch of snow and sleet between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Residents could see more snow and sleet before 1 a.m. on Sunday morning. Less than one inch of snow is possible.
NWS says there is a 90 percent chance of precipitation during the afternoon and night hours.
Showers are expected to continue this afternoon and scattered showers are possible tonight.
