Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS), a non-profit that provides resources and assistance to individuals in need in the Northern Virginia area, raised more than $600,000 at their ‘Road to Independence Gala’.
The organization held the gala back on May 12 at the Hilton McLean/Tysons Corner to recognize two individuals in the community – former Congressman Frank Wolf and Leadership Fairfax President Karen Cleveland – as well as raise funds for NVFS’ programs.
“Because of NVFS, we are able to build our family both with ‘forever’ children through adoption and ‘forever in our heart’ children through foster care. NVFS will always hold a special place in our hearts,” stated Mandi and Aaron Brown, foster care parents for NVFS.
Through ticket sales, and silent and live auctions, attendees were able to raise the $600,000 for NVFS.
“Guests contributed more than $600,000 through silent and live auctions, as well as a live appeal, to help lift families out of poverty and create a stronger, more vibrant community for all,” stated a release.
