Elementary school students could have their art featured in a publication.
Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (NOVEC)’s magazine, Cooperative Living, is seeking entries for its annual Youth Art Contest, according to a release.
First, second and third place winners from kindergarten-through fifth-grade will be chosen by staff members at Virginia, Maryland and Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives (VMDAEC), which publishes the magazine.
First place winners will earn $25, and the “Best in Show” artist will be awarded with $100.
The winning pieces will also be included in Cooperative Living’s July 2018 issue.
“We provide the Youth Art Contest to encourage youthful creativity and give children a chance to show their art to the magazine’s 1.2 million readers,” Cooperative Living Editor Bill Sherrod said. “Our judges always have a difficult time selecting winners because of the creativity shown in the students’ art.”
The entries, which are due May 1, should be centered around this year’s them, “What I like to do in the summertime.”
Submissions should be created on an 8½-by-11-inch sheet of white paper and mailed — unfolded — to Youth Art Contest, c/o Cooperative Living magazine, P.O. Box 2340, Glen Allen, VA 23058-2340.
The artist’s name, grade, mailing address, and their guardian’s phone number should be included on the back of the entry.
