Do you have a student that would like to see the government in action?
The Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (NOVEC) has opened up applications for area public, private, and homeschooled high school juniors and sophomores for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) Youth Tour.
According to a release, the tour will happen from June 10 to June 14.
NOVEC will select five students for the tour, chosen based on their grades, a written essay, and an interview. In order to qualify, students must receive the electric service in their homes from NOVEC.
More on the Youth Tour, from a release:
The selected students will join more than 1,800 students from across the nation in the all-expenses-paid tour. They will meet congressional representatives, tour museums, visit historic sites and memorials, and enjoy special events and entertainment.
In February 2019, the students will spend a day at the Virginia General Assembly in Richmond. There, they will meet with their state legislators and tour the Virginia State Capitol and the Executive Mansion.
