Looking for housing in the Northern Virginia area?
Then head out to the 2017 Northern Virginia Housing Expo on March 18.
According to a release, the expo will be held at Dominion High School at 21326 Augusta Drive in Sterling, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“The expo, which rotates location in the Northern Virginia area every year, is aimed at helping people with the challenges of finding housing across the region,” stated a release.
During the expo, individuals will be able to learn about how to rent or buy in the Northern Virginia area.
“The fair will also have workshops that are designed to help people understand what is needed budget-wise to purchase a home or to rent an apartment,” stated Prince William Housing and Community Development Director Bill Lake in a release.

Workshops at the expo will include: “Are you Ready to Rent,” “Are You Ready to Buy,” “The ABCs of Credit Scores,” “Rental and Home Buying Market Overviews,” and “Household Finance.”
In addition to the workshops, people who attend the expo will also have the chance to get one-on-one consultations designed to help them get where they want to be and live in Northern Virginia, whether they prefer to rent or buy. There will also be free, 30-minute, one-on-one credit counseling services.
Information on other important assistance programs will also be available at the expo, Lake said. “We’re also going to be featuring local down payment and closing cost assistance programs that are available through local county governments throughout the Northern Virginia region.”
The 7th-annual event will be hosted by the AHOME Foundation with cooperation from Prince William, Arlington, Loudoun and Fairfax counties, the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax and Falls Church, and the Town of Herndon, with assistance from the Virginia Housing Development Authority.
“It’s available to the public. It’s free of charge, so everyone should go out and take advantage of it,” Lake said of the expo.
