Today is Giving Tuesday.
Many non-profits are collecting donations through the annual fundraising effort.
Local organizations that community members can contribute to include:
Action in Community Through Service: Action in Community Through Service (ACTS) serves community members through a variety of programs. It runs a Hunger Prevention Center and thrift store. It also offers housing services, emergency assistance, and sexual assault services.
Americans in Wartime Experience: The Americans in Wartime aims to honor those who served and educate the public. This non-profit runs a Tank Farm Open House in Nokesville each year. It’s currently building landscapes of war and an indoor education center in Dale City.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington: The Boys and Girls Clubs provide programs for youth. There are three branches in Prince William County – the General Heiser Boys & Girls Club in Dumfries, the Hylton Boys & Girls Club in Dale City, and the Martin K. Alloy Boys & Girls Club of Manassas.
Prince William SPCA: The Prince William SPCA seeks to end the euthanasia of adoptable pets. It has a Friends of the Shelter Program and offers educational opportunities about different topics, such as spay and neuter awareness.
The Arc of Greater Prince William: The Arc of Greater Prince William serves those with developmental disabilities. It offers recreational programs, residential services, and support for families.
