Two non-profits – Giving On Another Level and Tavares Taylor Charities – are partnering with retailers like Walmart and JCPenney for their “Backpack Attack” school supply drive.
“The goal of our Backpack Attack program is to collect new backpacks and school supplies to distribute to area children in need, so every student can start the year with the tools necessary to succeed,” stated a release.
All of the supplies collected will be distributed to students in Prince William, Manassas, and Fauquier.
According to a release, volunteers will be accepting donations of new school supplies at the Haymarket Walmart location on August 12 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., as well as at the JCPenney location at the Potomac Mills Mall in Woodbridge, during store hours through August 30.
The organizations have also created an Amazon wish list, where people can purchase items to donate directly online. Monetary donations are also accepted.
