Literacy Volunteers of America – Prince William (LVA-PW) has received a $500 grant from Wal-Mart in Woodbridge.
The grant will support the English as a Second Language (ESL) and Job Readiness Program for New Immigrants. This is to help newer immigrants to be self sufficient.
About 10 percent of adults that LVA-PW serves work at Wal-Mart or worked there for their first American job, according to a release from LVA-PW.
The Dale City non-profit provides support to adults in need of help.
They offer classroom and one-on-one tutoring in GED preparation and citizenship, reading and writing, and ESL.
LVA-PW has been able to support over 700 people within Prince William County.
