The Manassas Regional Airport will soon have a hotel nearby.
Recently, Governor Ralph Northam announced Holladay Properties will invest about $14 million into the City of Manassas to build Tru by Hilton at the Landing at Cannon Branch.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held at the hotel on Tuesday.
Councilman Ian Lovejoy explained last year that many people were traveling outside of the city for other places to eat and stay due to the lack of hotels.
A press release by the City of Manassas projects the hotel is going to create 35 jobs and approximately $3 million income from traveler spending.
The project is receiving support through Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) Tourism Development Financing Program (TDFP) which helps finance gaps in larger scale tourism.
Mayor Hal Parrish commented, “This new hotel will serve the state’s busiest general aviation airport, some of Virginia’s largest corporations, and many of the Commonwealth’s most significant historical, arts, and leisure assets. Last year, more than 350,000 tourists visited our community.”
