Several local students and graduates have become Eagle Scouts.
Troop 5404 held a Court of Honor ceremony on June 18, according to a release from Troop 5404. Five scouts were recognized during the program, which took place at the Prince William County Police Association Hall.
The Manassas troop is based out of the Dar al Noor Islamic Community Center.
Below is more information about the new Eagle Scouts:
Adam Amara: Amara graduated from Woodbridge Senior High School in 2022 and is majoring in biology at George Mason University. Through his Eagle Scout project, Amara improved fire baskets at Manassas Parks and antiques at Annaburg Manor.
Ihsan Mahmood: Mahmood is a rising senior who is working on a 6-year Islamic Studies degree. The homeschooled student added trail steps at Liberia House Park for his Eagle Scout project.
Youssef Abdelrasoul: Abdelrasoul attends Woodbridge Senior High School, where he is a rising senior. His Eagle Scout project involved making updates to the Cannon Branch Fort walking trail.
Yunis Kakar: Kakar’s Eagle Scout project took place at Leesylvania State Park. The 2023 South County High School graduate led a group that made garden beds. Kakar plans to major in cybersecurity at George Mason University this fall.
Zuhayr Khan: Khan graduated from Osbourn Park High School (OPHS) in 2023. The focus on his Eagle Scout project was to establish exercise trails at the school. This fall, Khan intends to major in biochemistry at the University of Virginia.
