The new Dumfries Neighborhood Library location is now open, following a celebration over the weekend.
Originally opened in 1985, the library had outgrown its former space at the Dumfries Shopping Center.
Following $125,000 in funding from library proffer funds, the location is now open at 18115 Triangle Shopping Plaza.
The new location is double in size and offers additional computer access, two study rooms, and a children’s play area.
The new Prince William Public Library System Library Director Deborah Wright expressed her excitement about the re-opening.
“Over 30 years ago, Ed King – my predecessor – did a very smart thing. The Board [of Supervisors] at that time was talking about neighborhood libraries, and he wanted a library that was going to be close to the children, and he chose the Dumfries Shopping Center,” said Potomac Supervisor Maureen Caddigan.
