Changes are coming to Northern Virginia Community College’s (NOVA) Manassas campus.
According to a release, Dr. Diane Mucci has been named Dean of the Science and Applied Technologies Division for the Manassas campus.
“I am pleased that Dr. Diane Mucci has accepted the position as dean of the Science and Applied Technologies Division. Diane has capably served as interim dean for the past two years and I am glad she will continue to be part of the campus leadership team,” stated Manassas campus Provost Molly Lynch.
“A dean is responsible for promoting academic, administrative and fiscal leadership of the assigned division in accordance with NOVA’s mission,” and the division currently represents 18 academic disciplines including engineering, IT database and web development, geology, mathematics, natural science, and physics, according to a release.

Mucci has been at NOVA since 2004. Before accepting the interim dean position in 2015, Mucci was program head for biotechnology at NOVA’s Loudoun Campus. She holds a doctorate in molecular genetics from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
At NOVA, Mucci serves on numerous collegewide committees, including the Biology Review Committee, Automotive Program Review Committee, College Curriculum Committee, Commencement Committee, Scholarship Committee and General Education Subcommittee. In 2016, she participated in the VCCS Chancellor’s Leadership Academy.
Her community service includes the advisory committee for the Governor’s School @ Innovation Park, Northern Virginia Technology Council, George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences Advisory Board, and George Mason University SciTech Campus Advisory Board.
“I am excited to continue in this position working with great faculty, staff and students,” the Manassas resident said.
