Blink, and you might just miss it.
The Town of Dumfries has a new sweet treasure.
Pinay Sweet Creations has opened at the corner of Dumfries Road and Route 1, next to the Valero gas station and Subway.
Belinda Salce and her mom, Alicia Dela Paz, run the bakery, which serves various desserts, including cupcakes and cake pops.
It offers tea, coffee and bubble tea, as well.
“We figured if you have cupcakes and cakes, desserts you should have drinks too, right?” Belinda Salce said. “So, that’s why we added that on our menu.”
Salce runs the Pinay Sweet Creations with her mom, Alicia Dela Paz, who owned two restaurants when she lived in the Philippines.
After moving to the United States, Paz was a baker at Old Country Buffet for at least five years.
“One day she said she just want[ed] to have her own bakery, and that’s basically how it started,” Salce said.
The business also offers custom cakes, which should be ordered at least a week in advance.
“If [customers] have something in mind, they can just call us, message us and see if we can make their request,” Salce said.
Pinay Sweet Creations, located at 17319 Jefferson Davis Highway, can be reached at 703-291-7095.
