Many Prince William residents have to travel into Washington, D.C. and the surrounding area for work, which can get very tricky when winter weather hits.
Now the National Weather Service (NWS) will be issuing a new alert for winter weather with those commuters in mind.
“Small amounts of winter precipitation falling on sub-freezing road surfaces during rush-hours can produce very long, stressful commutes (e.g., January 20, 2016 evening rush-hour). Frequently, these are the most challenging types of events for our forecasters to predict,” stated a release.
The NWS will now begin issuing statements a day ahead of potential winter weather, to let people know about conditions that could have a negative impact on commuters, according to a release.
