Robots designed by area students are traveling up the East Coast this summer.
Several high school students from Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) are moving on to a national robotics competition after competing in the Regional Seaperch Competition on Friday.
Five teams from Patriot High School and a team from Forest Park High School will participate in the International SeaPerch Challenge, which will take place in June at the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth.
A team from Colgan High School, Patriot High School, and Stonewall Jackson High School have been placed on the waitlist.
On Friday, about 300 students from the county, and the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park went head-to-head.
Members of 95 teams designed robots that completed underwater challenges at the PWCS Aquatics Center in Manassas.
Students also presented their robots to judges and answered questions.
