Across the United States, youth are learning how to be leaders.
The Young Marines is providing them with the training.
This month, the national non-profit is celebrating its 60th anniversary, according to a release from the Young Marines.
Based out of Dumfries, the Young Marines offers an education and service program that helps children 8 years old through high school develop life skills.
Since it was established by several veterans in 1959, the organization has expanded to about 250 chapters that have 8,500 participants.
In addition to adding small American flags by the headstones of veterans, its members take part in Memorial Day parades across the country and travel to Pearl Harbor for the remembrance day that’s held every year.
The organization provides recruit training and a National Leadership Academy, as well.
