15 names have been suggested for the upcoming “Potomac Shores” Elementary School in Dumfries.
According to a release, the list was made up of names of U.S. presidents, educators, and activists.
“The names were submitted online to the Office of Planning and Financial Services or offered at the School Board Naming Committee public meeting on January 30, held at Potomac High School,” stated a release.
The following names were submitted for consideration:
John Harper, Jr. Elementary School
Betty D. Covington Elementary School
Cherry Hill Elementary School
Potomac Shores Elementary School
Lillian Orlich Elementary School
Barack Obama Elementary School
Barack and Michelle Obama Elementary School
Michelle Obama Elementary School
Nelson Mandela Elementary School
John F Kennedy, Jr. Elementary School
Gordon Parks Elementary School
Katherine Johnson Elementary School
Horace Mann Elementary School
Ashley Guindon Elementary School
John Graham Elementary School
The Prince William County School Board will vote on their choice for the school at their meeting on February 15, according to a release.
The school is set to open this fall and is located at 2500 River Heritage Parkway.
