A meeting will be held to ask the community for input on what to name the new “Alternative Education” school.
The project, also known as the “Non-Traditional” school is currently under construction at 14550 Aden Road in Manassas.
“It is being constructed to replace the PACE East School, and consolidate the middle and high school nontraditional programs located at the New Dominion Alternative Education Center and New Directions Alternative Education Center,” stated a release.
A committee will be looking for suggestions on what to name the school on February 27 at 7 p.m. at Colgan High School.
“The committee will consider geographic or historical identifiers, as well as names of living or deceased person(s) who have made local, state, or national service contributions. Selection preference shall be given to those individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of education, especially within Prince William County,” stated a release.
All of the recommendations made will be presented to the Prince William County School Board on March 1, and voted on during their March 15 meeting.
The new school is scheduled to open in 2018.
