Helping others.
That’s one goal that the Woodbridge chapter of the State Burner’s Motorcycle Club strives to achieve.
Established in 1946, it’s the oldest historically black club in the United States.
The organization, which is now all-inclusive, serves the community.
On Saturday, members worked alongside Operations Hero’s Connect (OHC) and OHC Founder Tee Marie Hanible for the “30 Days of Giving” Homeless Dinner Service.
Attendees of the annual event were able to pick up donated items, such as coats and hats.
“We also provided a dinner service … that’s piping hot for them to have today,” Hanible explained.
In addition to lending a hand with the Homeless Dinner Service, the State Burner’s Motorcycle Club helps with events, including Trunk or Treat at Minnieland Academy at Cloverdale in Dale City.
This holiday season, the organization is partnering with Action in Community Through Service (ACTS) and the Salvation Army to provide meals and toys for those in need.
It serves as a sponsor for the Jump Rope FX Team, as well.
Recently, the Jump Rope FX Team recognized the State Burner’s Motorcycle Club for its community service efforts with a Plaque of Appreciation.
The State Burner’s MC, Woodbridge Chapter was recently recognized for its influence, charitable acts, and Community Service within the Woodbridge and PWC area by being presented a Plaque of Appreciation by the Jump Rope FX Team (a team we currently sponsor).
Club President Jason “NapTown” Henry explained that he grew up in an impoverished household.
“I know what it’s like to wear your sibling’s hand-me-down clothes and not knowing where your next meal comes from,” Henry said.
He serves others simply because they need help.
“I strongly believe that God blesses us in order to bless other people, and if you’re hoarding it all to yourself, you’re doing no good to anybody,” Henry said. “So, as long as I have the ability to help somebody else, that’s what I’m going to do. That’s the only reason I do it.”
