Prince William County is going to be gaining more BMX athletes.
USA BMX is hosting the ‘East Coast Nationals’ at a local track next year, according to a release from the Prince William County Office of Tourism.
“We are excited to return to Prince William County in 2020 for our East Coast Nationals competition,” USA BMX Chief Operating Officer John David said in a release. ”We plan to work hand-in-hand with the County’s Office of Tourism to attract many out-of-town competitors to make this year’s event one of the biggest yet.”
The motocross competition, which is for the National Championship Series, is running from August 14, 2020 to August 16, 2020.
It’s occurring at NOVA BMX, 7 County Complex Court in Woodbridge
A USA BMX ‘Stars & Stripes Nationals’ took place in Prince William County three years ago.
Improvements made to a BMX track that the county owns is one reason behind the organization’s tournament location decision.
“On behalf of the Board of County Supervisors, we are pleased to welcome back USA BMX and its thousands of athletes and spectators to Prince William County,” Supervisor Ruth Anderson said in a release.
Sports-related events, Anderson added, help support the county’s tourism economy, which totals $619 million.
