Military members and veterans are being recognized.
On September 27, a Military Appreciation Football Game will occur at Battlefield High School (BHS), 15000 Graduation Drive in Haymarket.
Organized by the BHS Athletic Booster Club, the event begins with a pre-game tailgate at 3 p.m., according to a release.
Music by the Feehan Brothers, games, a rock climbing wall and food is going to be offered.
The football game starts at 7 p.m.
Senior Master Sergeant Harry F. Miller, a member of the WWII DC Chapter who served in the United States Air Force (USAF) is among those BHS will honor.
Homes for Heroes is presenting a new house to United States Navy Lieutenant Patrick Ferguson in the half-time program. Ferguson served in the military for 24 years.
“This area is home to many veterans and military families, and many of our BHS students have had parents that have served or are currently serving in the military,” BHS Athletic Booster Club President Matt Jones said in a release. “We’re thrilled with all the community support and participation from our BHS families who helped us show our gratitude to the military.”
Tickets for the game cost $6 at the gate. Participants can buy all-you-can-eat barbecue tickets on the booster club website for $10 or $15 at the gate. Programs are available for purchase for $20.
