A Lake Ridge Middle School student has learned what it takes to be an astronaut.
Genevieve Patterson recently participated in Space Camp. The program was hosted at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL.
During her visit, the rising seventh-grader went through training as if she was an astronaut, according to a release from Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS).
She also learned about Newton’s Laws and participated in activities.
“I truly loved doing the missions and I just thought it was the most fun thing,” Genevieve said in a release.
One of the tasks was serving as a Payload Communications Manager (PAYCOM), who is responsible for communicating with the international space station staff members.
She was a commanding mission specialist and took part in an extravehicular activity (EVA) in her second mission.
