A sweet, senior dog is looking for a new home.
Foxy will soon be available for adoption through the Humane Society of Northern Virginia (HSNV).
The non-profit recently started operating in Dumfries.
Estimated to be around 12 years old, Foxy hails from the Caroline County Animal Shelter.
“We were told by the staff that she had been abandoned in a home … for almost 30 days, surviving on water and just a couple pieces of bread that were provided to her by somebody who was keeping an eye on the property,” HSNV Director Sherry Turner explained.
At the end of 30 days, she was surrendered to the animal shelter.
When she came to the humane society, Foxy was flea infested and is missing all but two of her teeth.
Have dogs already? Not to worry. she’s good around other dogs, according to Turner, who’s currently fostering her.
Foxy typically sleeps in the crate and has no problem finding a place to lay down on the floor.
“She definitely seems like the years have not been kind to her,” Turner said. “So, someone who just has an open heart, an open home, and can give this girl some love, we’d absolutely be so appreciative and grateful for that.”
Anyone interested in adopting Foxy can reach out to Turner at A3PDirector@gmail.com. After she is spayed and her blood work is good, she will be posted on Pet Finder and the Humane Society of Northern Virginia website.
