Users of one Woodbridge park will notice a few changes at their next visit.
Marumsco Acre Lake Park now features an improved playground, updated basketball courts, and new sidewalks.
The basketball courts were paved and painted, and the playground received a new rubber surface, according to a release from the Prince William County Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism (DPRT).
New sidewalks that are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) have been added, as well.
A newly paved parking lot, updates to stormwater and drainage, and the installation of curbs are other changes.
Prince William County officials participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony at Marumsco Acre Lake Park, located at 14398 Melbourne Avenue, on Tuesday.
“We love the opportunity to improve our existing parks,” Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Director Seth Hendler-Voss said at the ceremony. “We’ve been very fortunate because of the support from Supervisor Franklin, the Chair, and the Board of County Supervisors to be able to garner new resources to reinvest in our existing infrastructure.”
Woodbridge District Supervisor Margaret Franklin was also in attendance.
“I’m happy to be here to rededicate this park,” Franklin said. “This is just one of many that we will be focused on.”
