The mystery of the winner of the $1 million Powerball prize has been solved.
Manassas Park resident and electrician Enrico Pelausa is the winner of the Powerball prize.
According to the Virginia Lottery, instead of coming forward immediately with the winning ticket, Pelausa spent time getting his finances in order before claiming the prize.
“I guess I just got lucky,” stated Pelausa in a release.
He purchased the winning lottery ticket at the In & Out Mart on 9103 Mathis Avenue.
More on his win, from a release:
He used Easy Pick, allowing the computer to randomly select the numbers on his ticket.
The winning numbers were 8-10-29-40-59, and the Powerball number was 26. His ticket was the only one in the nation to match the first five numbers in that drawing. When he checked the winning numbers for that drawing, he had a hard time believing his luck.
“I had to look at the ticket over and over and over and over,” he said.
He said he plans to “stash it away for retirement.”
Meanwhile, the store receives a $10,000 bonus from the Virginia Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
