The City of Manassas’ Fire & Rescue Station 21 project is moving forward.
Currently, site and building design work is being done for the $8.6 million station, with an anticipated construction start date of July 2018.
After concerns about another location in the city that was in the middle of a residential area, the city decided to move forward with a location at 10306 Dumfries Road, not far from Route 234.
The city signed an agreement for the $1.6 million property in August, and a two-story conceptual design has been proposed. The goal for response time from the facility is four minutes.
A sign stands at the edge of the property now, announcing that the land will be the future site of the facility.

The city has set a goal to have the facility completed by February 2020.
