Watch a debate between interpreters portraying President Lincoln and Confederate President Jefferson Davis
Hear a debate between interpreters portraying Virginia Governors Smith and Pierpont. Governor William Smith served his second term as Governor from 1864 until the end of the Civil War, when he was arrested and soon paroled. He also served in the Confederate Army. Francis Harrison Pierpont succeeded Smith as Governor in 1865 and served through the early years of Reconstruction until 1877.
