Members of a Dale City church recently took a stroll down memory lane.
Lutheran Church of the Covenant (LCOC) in Dale City celebrated its 50th anniversary on Sunday.
The celebration included a worship service, a performance by The Bull Run Troubadours and food from Carrabba’s of Woodbridge.
Participants were also able to share stories on memory boards, according to Council Member Patti Beattie.
Since its foundation, LCOC has served the community in various ways.
The church supports Neabsco Elementary School in Dale City by donating backpacks and school supplies.
It also provides food to the school and Action in Community Through Service (ACTS) in Dumfries.
Community events are hosted throughout the year, such as Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, a fall festival and Breakfast with Santa.
Additionally, LCOC runs an annual meal packing event.
More than 102,000 meals have been packed by church members and community volunteers since the program began five years ago.
In March, nearly 34,000 packets were made. LCOC hopes to pack 40,000 meals at its next event, which is set for March 28.
