Members of the community are coming out on September 24 to support law enforcement at the second annual ‘We Love You Blue’ rally in Woodbridge.
The rally will be taking place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at VFW Post 1503 at 14631 Minnieville Road, according to a release.
According to a release, the rally will honor the Prince William County Police Department, the Dumfries Police Department, the U.S Marshal’s Office, and the Prince William County Sheriff’s Department.
“In addition to showing appreciation for law enforcement, the goal of the event is also to help young people build positive relationships with local police. The law enforcement offices will bring patrol cars, motorcycles, a crime prevention unit, a SWAT vehicle, and a command unit for children to explore and play in. Food will be provided and complimentary child identification cards will be made on site,” stated a release.
During the rally, several elected officials and community leaders will offer remarks including Delegate Rich Anderson, former Delegate Michael Futrell, Delegate Scott Lingamfelter, School Board Member Justin Wilk, Occoquan Supervisor Ruth Anderson, and new Prince William Police Chief Barry Barnard, stated a release.
“Our local law enforcement do an outstanding job of keeping us safe, and that’s why so many of us love living in Prince William County,” Beckles. “There has been unrest between police and communities all across America. I’m sure it’s a tough time to be a police officer, so we want to show support and respect for the police,” stated ‘We Love You Blue’ group founder Angela Beckles in a release.
