A Virginia Lottery player was in for a surprise, recently.
Joseph Heaton has won $10 million through the Virginia Lottery, according to a release from the Virginia Lottery.
“I couldn’t believe it,” he said. “My head has been spinning ever since.”
The Haymarket resident purchased an Extreme Millions ticket from Sudley Shell, 7025 Sudley Road in Manassas.
Because Sudley Shell sold the ticket, it is being rewarded with a bonus of $50,000 from the Virginia Lottery.
He picked up his winnings on Friday.
Heaton had two options — $10 million that he would receive throughout 30 years or $6,570,302 in cash, before taxes. The cash was his choice.
Prizes for Extreme Millions vary from $30 to $10 million. One top prize of $10 million hasn’t been claimed yet. Players have a 1 in 2,937,600 chance of winning it.
