A local businessman came to Northern Virginia Community College’s (NOVA) Manassas campus to share insight with business students.
According to a release, Steven Fine from Pullin Electric – a 2008 NOVA graduate himself – related with students, providing real-world business advice in an “Introduction to Business” course.
“Fine talked about managing the business, training good employees, keeping customers happy and other aspects of running a successful company,” stated a release.
Fine shared that after he completed a program at NOVA, he was able to pursue his Bachelor’s degree from James Madison University and begin work at Pullin Electric. Pullin Electric is a family-owned electrical contracting company based in Manassas.
“My class really enjoyed Steven’s candor and honesty. Most of my students are recent high school graduates and will benefit from his thoughts on working hard and finding your passion,” stated Professor Cathleen Cogdill in a release.
“At the end of his presentation, the students asked a variety of questions and were surprised to learn that even with a bachelor’s degree Fine needed additional education to give him the hands-on skills required in his business. He plans to earn more credentials and encouraged everyone to become lifelong learners,” stated a release.
