As we end the first week in the new year, I think it’s important for us as a publication to reflect on the year that we’ve had, and where we go next.
2017 was a busy year for us.
We joined the Virginia Press Association, won the 2017 Community Outreach Award from the Prince William Chamber of Commerce, and won the Most Community Involved Business in InsideNOVA’s ‘Best of Prince William’.
We added the fabulous Erin Flynn to our team, grew our audience (you all are awesome, we can’t thank you enough for reading), and partnered with community organizations like ACTS for the IWALK, SOWW, and Impacto Youth.
We even managed to save a dog (well, Erin did) from the Prince William Humane Society, now affectionately named Zoey.
But to me, the most important thing we’ve been able to do in 2017 is provide value to the greater Prince William County community.
We started this publication just over two years ago with a singular focus – provide “good news” happening in our community, and act as a resource to non-profits and organizations that are doing this wonderful and necessary work, that is often left out of the media limelight, in favor of click bait and the daily crime blotter.
And as we look ahead, that focus will remain the same, even as we continue to grow.
In 2018 we’re thinking of adding some new sections to our site, growing our readership, and working with even more non-profits and businesses to get the good news you need, but we can’t do it alone.
Make sure to follow us on social media, and let us know how we can do better. Do you have a suggestion in mind? If so, email us at info@eventspw.com. We’d love to hear from you.
Stay tuned with us in 2018,
