English language learners are getting a chance to develop their skills alongside other community members.
BEACON for English Language and Literacy will start a Learning Circles program this month.
It’s open to Prince William County adults who are willing to practice with Learning Upgrade resources and participate in weekly meetings, according to a release from BEACON.

Run by an English speaker, the online meetings are set for Tuesdays between April 18 and June 6. They are being held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The Learning Circle program is free and addresses the need BEACON has seen for English classes. More than 260 people signed up for spring classes.
“We are thrilled to add Learning Circles to our program to help adult learners gain access to the tools necessary to begin learning English,” Executive Director Jennifer Katac said in a release. “It can be very challenging to learn another language, and the demand for our adult ESOL classes has increased significantly over the last few years. This new program will provide English learning access to adult learners who have not yet joined a more formal program and connect them with their peers who are also learning English.”
Funding through grants is being provided for the Learning Circles program.
Sponsorship opportunities are available. Those interested may support a learner through a $60 donation.
More information about the Learning Circles program can be found on the BEACON for English Language and Literacy website. Community members can also reach out to Katac by emailing beaconforadultliteracy@gmail.com or calling (703) 331-5513.
