Summer vacation is still a few months away, but many are looking forward to the warmer months. Among that list is Leadership Prince William (LPW).
The Manassas-based non-profit is accepting applications for its Summer Academy.
The academy, which will run from July 16 to 27, offers field trips and activities for rising seventh- through ninth-graders.
“Leadership Prince William is really proud of this program, because it offers a great alternative to this typical summer day camp experience,” LPW Executive Director Andrea Short said. “While they do get engaged in physical activity and burn off energy, in a lot of ways they’re really using their minds.”
Participants also work on a community service project and learn more about their leadership styles.
“This is really a two week growth opportunity for a kid who is really set to change the world,” Short said.
It costs $450 to participate in the academy. The $450 covers the cost of breakfast, lunch, travel and activities.
The application is available online.
Rising 10th- through 12th-graders can participate in the Academy by serving as “Leaders in Training.”
As “Leaders in Training,” they will act as role models for younger students and assist with activities.
