Businesses and leaders are about to get moving.
The inaugural Lead the Way Walk-a-thon is being held by Leadership Prince William (LPW) and the Prince William Chamber of Commerce, according to a release from LPW.
Through the virtual fundraiser, community members and leaders in other states may walk when, where and however much they’d like between May 1 and May 22.
LPW and the chamber have hosted the Gourmet Guys Give Back in previous years. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, they are going a different route.
“We wanted to do a fundraiser that encourages business and community leaders to give at the same time that it encourages them to get out of their house or office – or on the treadmill if that’s more their thing – enjoying the people and places that make our community outstanding,” LPW Executive Director Andrea Money said in a release.
Because walkers don’t need to meet at a certain location or on a specific date, according to Chamber President & CEO Debbie Jones, they have the opportunity to be creative.
“Ideas have been posted to the event website and we’ll be continuing to add to that page as we receive additional suggestions,” Jones said in a release.
The organizations hope to raise $20,000, which will be used to support operating costs and programs.
Registration for the walk-a-thon is available online. You can also make a donation by texting “LPW” + how much you would like to contribute to 50155.
