A Dale City Church is stepping up to help in the fight against hunger. But it needs a little help from the community to meet its goal.
Lutheran Church of the Covenant (LCOC) is still seeking volunteers and donations for its upcoming meal packing event.
The church and volunteers from partnering community groups are packing thousands of meals on March 10 at 15008 Cloverdale Road.
The meals will help international non-profit Rise Against Hunger feed 30,000 people.
To pack the meals, LCOC must collect $8,700 for supplies.
The church and the Woodbridge Rotary hosted a Chili Cook Off to help raise funds.
So far, LCOC has raised $5,800 — 67 percent of its fundraising goal.
The church is asking community members to consider donating or volunteering on March 10.
Those interested in donating or signing up to volunteer can do so online.
