Children are making connections with police officers.
Santa Cops is launching on December 7.
Fraternal Order of Police, Battlefield Lodge 43 organizes the annual program, which enables kids in need to go Christmas shopping with members of law enforcement agencies, according to a release from Battlefield Lodge 43.
Youth between 5 and 10 years old will visit the Potomac Mills Wal-Mart in Woodbridge with members of the George Mason University (GMU) Police, Prince William Adult Detention Center, Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD), Prince William County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police.
After the shopping spree, the participants will enjoy breakfast that Outback Steakhouse of Woodbridge donated.
Santa Cops continues at Super Wal-Mart at the Manassas Mall on December 14.
Staff from the GMU Police, Haymarket Police Department, Manassas City Police Department, Manassas Park Police Department, Prince William Adult Detention Center, PWCPD, Prince William County Sheriff’s Office, and Virginia State Police are participating.
Law enforcement officials will escort the children to breakfast, which Park West Lion’s Club is providing.
Battlefield Lodge 43 is collecting donations for the Santa Cops program. They can be dropped off at the events or mailed to: Battlefield Charitable Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 195, Woodbridge, VA 22194.
