Laser beams.
Isomet Corporation, a laser beam control device company, is coming to Prince William County.
Currently located in Springfield, the company is now bringing 21 jobs and $2.3 million in capital investment to their new location in the county.
“We are delighted to call Prince William County our new home. As we considered other locations across the region, the county’s cost competitiveness, skilled workforce along with its pro-business environment presented a compelling value proposition. We look forward to being here for many years to come,” stated Isomet Chief Financial Officer Sidney Neely in a release.
The Prince William Board of County Supervisors recently approved an agreement between the company and the Industrial Development Authority, and have provided the company with a $40,000 grant from the county’s Economic Development Opportunity fund to purchase them new machinery and equipment, according to a release.

The Company is engaged in the design, development and manufacture of acousto-optic (AO) devices, radio frequency (RF) electronics and optical sub-systems. Its products include modulators, frequency shifters, deflectors, tunable filters, Q-switches, special function fiber coupled devices. It also manufactures a full range of compatible frequency sources, RF drivers, power amplifiers and control electronics. These range from simple fixed frequency drivers to complex microcontroller-based high-speed digital synthesizers.
